Places To Eat

The North Market in Columbus, Ohio is a great place to eat. When I first heard about this place I imagined it to be more of a traditional farmer's market. Although there are a few vendors who sell fresh meats and produce, it is mostly comprised of small booths that sale prepared food. Nevertheless, this place is cool. It is located in the heart of down town, and for someone who lives in the suburbs, a trip downtown is always welcome.
It is mostly an indoor market with more than thirty vendors inside what looks like a huge warehouse. During weekends of the warmer months there are vendors who set up tents outside. This market is more than one-hundred years old. I have been there twice now. I went once in the winter, when it was freezing outside, and once just recently. I have enjoyed it both of the times that I went.
There is a wide variety of fresh food available. The smells of all of the different flavors fill the air and my mouth can't help but begin to water. There are waffles, ice cream, french pastries, ribs, pasta, Indian food, gyros, just to name a few. When I went during the Polar Vortex Winter of 2014, I drank the best tasting cup of coffee ever. The barbecue ribs are full of lean meat that literally falls off of the bone when you bite into them, and I'm not a big meat eater. When I walked by the pretzel place the smell of freshly made pretzels was so mesmerizing that my nostrils went into a trance. These pretzels were the size of my head. I did not have one, but I promised myself that next time I will.
The place is expensive. My daughters plate of ribs cost $17.00. My son's slow cooked barbecue chicken was $15.00. I also had to pay to park. The creme brulee eclair that I ordered was $4.50. I think that the money is worth it. The food is all fresh and most of the ingredients come from local suppliers. Real food isn't cheap. Although the food is pricey, I would definitely recommend it to anyone who hasn't been there. I would tell them to be prepared to spend money.
